Ensuring good governance
Advantage Africa's policies, approved by our Trustees, help us to act with professionalism, integrity and accountability. Good governance means making decisions transparently, using resources responsibly, and creating a safe environment where everyone can thrive. Our policies are a practical expression of our values, guiding staff, trustees, volunteers, and partners in their day-to-day work. Implementing these policies ensures that Advantage Africa:
- Meets its legal and regulatory obligations.
- Safeguards the wellbeing of vulnerable people.
- Protects staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Encourages openness, transparency, and accountability.
- Builds trust with donors, supporters, and communities.
Key policies
To reflect our commitment to good governance and ethical practice, we publish the following key policies online:
- Privacy Policy – protecting the personal data of supporters like you.
- Safeguarding Policy – protecting children and vulnerable adults from harm and responding swiftly to abuse.
- Whistleblowing Policy – encouraging anyone connected with our organisation to raise concerns about wrongdoing without fear of reprisal.
- Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy – treating everyone with dignity and respect, celebrating diversity, and ensuring equal opportunities.
- Corruption Policy – ensuring funds are used responsibly and reach the people who need them most.
These policies (and a dozen more) are regularly reviewed by the Board of Trustees to ensure they remain up to date and effective. Together, they underpin our governance and help us stay true to our mission of supporting vulnerable people in Africa to overcome poverty and discrimination.
