
We are currently working in partnership with inspirational people in five communities in Kenya and among five groups of single parents in Uganda. These projects are making a real difference to men, women and children disadvantaged by poverty, disability and HIV/AIDS. In Mitaboni We are working with Lesa Musyoki and her team to establish and run a special school for children with learning difficulties. To visit this project click here.
In Thinu A new unit for disabled children is now being constructed, building on the success of the Mitaboni project. The Thinu unit, to open in 2011, will provide a further 40 disabled children with the opportunity to recieve an education for the first time.
In Obambo Pastor Jack and Selline Okoth are supporting people in their community to work together to to tackle the hardships they face, including HIV/AIDS prevention and care, safe water and orphans' nutrition and education. To visit this project click here.
In Kisayani and Kibwezi Our partnership with disability activist Agnes Musembi and a local primary school in the village of Kisayani in south east Kenya involves a special unit for disabled children and a mobility aids workshop. To visit this project click here.
In Kalulini Advantage Africa supports the Rescue Team, a group of dynamic young people working to address the sickness, death and poverty caused by HIV and AIDS. The Team educate children and adults about the virus in schools, churches and marketplaces using entertaining and interactive drama, poetry, music and sport. The hold voluntary counselling and testing events, youth discussions and relationship therapy, support people living with AIDS and run training for village midwives. Advantage Africa's assistance is enabling this group of creative people to do extraordinary things; they often reach a thousand people each month with thier life-saving services. In and around Kampala, Uganda Our partnership with the Single Parents' Association of Uganda (SPAU) supports income generation and HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities in five locations. We have also helped establish a primary school in Bombo, a home for orphans in Muzinda and the capacity-building of staff in each location. To visit this project click here.
