Advantage Africa identifies and supports the work of men and women in Africa who are selflessly commited to overcome hardship within their local communities but who lack the resources to fulfil their aspirations.
Our encouragement and support enables these people to do extraordinary things by becoming catalysts for lasting change and hope in situations of great need.
Advantage Africa's 'inspirational people' are all working with, and creating new opportunities for, men, women and children who are 'doubly disadvantaged' by disability or HIV/AIDS as well as poverty.
Advantage Africa builds genuine partnerships with inspirational people and their community groups based on trust and two-way learning:
- Encouraging them to pursue their ideas about how the needs of doubly
disadvantaged people can be met. - Helping to build their skills and capacity by providing technical advice and by supporting them to raise funds, plan and implement projects.
- Identifying other sources of knowledge, skills, training and funds that will enable their positive vision of the future to be fulfilled.
- Learning from them, and sharing our experience of working together, in
order to create public awareness of the resilience and determination of disadvantaged people in Africa.
